DESIGN PROCESS

1. Consultation
This is where the designer and client meet for the first time and where the designer determines the clients needs for the garden as well as any thoughts on style, colour schemes, areas of grass, paving, beds etc.

2. Site survey
The designer carries out a site survey which includes a garden analysis, determining areas of sun, shade, waterlogging, and compacting, anything that may determine how the garden is used.
Measurements and photographs are also obtained at this stage which will be the basis for plan and if required, elevation concept drawings.

3. Design concept drawings
These are designs based upon information obtained from the Consultation and Site Survey and will be the designers illustrated recommendations to the client of how he has interpreted the client’s brief. This may extend to several alternative design choices, plans and elevations. This stage may also incorporate thoughts on planting for effect.
.

4. Specification drawings for build
A specification drawing is produced for the purposes of providing the builder with necessary measurements and details.

5. Planting plan
This is a detailed and comprehensive plan showing the type and positioning of each recommended plant, shrub or tree.

6. Project management
The designer can attend the site when and if required, to ensure the correct realisation of the design.
